Free Public Programs at the Historical Society!

The Historical Society of Washington, D.C. (HSW) has a reputation of offering a wealth of free, innovative public programs and affordable workshops aimed at deepening one’s understanding of our nation’s capital. HSW’s public programs feature not only the most eminent historians, writers, and thinkers in the country but also showcase performing artists and writers whose works commemorate, inspire, and inform visitors about the District’s rich history.

Our staff and volunteers are ready to add excitement and fun to your visit to HSW with hands-on interactive programs, lectures, films, music, tours, and discussion groups.

Public programs for the family, children, and adults are a vital part of a visitor's experience at HSW. Gifts to establish and expand our programs are always welcome.
