Playing My Story
August 2 - 6, 2010
9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m

Everyone is unique with a special story to tell. Our campers will learn drama, music, and songs to explore their personal history and how their families, friends, and community have influenced who they are today.  Young actors will engage in improvisational techniques to retell their unique stories and learn to compose songs to accompany their skits. Friends and family are invited on the final day for a premiere performance.

This engaging camp also includes a fieldtrip, walking tour, and a workshop in Tai Chi.

Grades 5-7.
General Admission $225.
HSW Members $200.

INSTRUCTORS:

Kimberly Rattley brings a wealth of experience and passion for the power of the Arts to change people’s lives. She has worked with of all ages as a counselor and artist in many schools throughout the DC Metro Area.  She brings her experience of having traveled extensively nationally and internationally doing Playback Theatre workshops to the young people in DC. 

Marcia McIntyre, a violinist and singer for over 20 years, she enjoys sharing music in many different ways as a freelance artist. She teaches violin and performs in various venues. Learning Playback Theatre, over 4 years ago, Ms. McIntyre integrates the two art forms and welcomes the opportunity to teach it to people of all ages.


GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION

The full-day session 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. include a supervised brown-bag lunch hour. (Campers must provide their own non-perishable food and beverages.).

There is also an After-Camp Program at $80 per camper that runs from 4:30 to 6 p.m. (Pre-registration is required). Campers provide their own transportation to the camp and we have a supervised drop-off and pick-up location in front of the

located at Mt. Vernon Square, in the Carnegie Building,
801 K Street, NW.

Morning drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up begins at 4:30 p.m. Each child is expected to be picked up no later than 4:45 p.m. without parents incurring a late fee.
